Ann was born in N. Wales. After gaining her B.Ed from the University of Wales she pursued a teaching career. Having been a prize winner at the National Eisteddfod of Wales and the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen as well as many other smaller competitions, in 1990 Ann gained a scholarship to study singing with Kenneth Bowen at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Since this time she have performed as a freelance singer throughout the UK and abroad, in a variety of venues including the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Royal Albert Hall and St David’s Hall.
She has sung with many of Britain’s leading Opera Companies including Scottish Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Wexford Festival Opera, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Mid Wales Opera, Central Festival Opera and Opera Box.
Ann's career has taken her to many different parts of the world, including Europe, the U.S.A., Asia and Australasia. During the summer of 2005 she toured New Zealand and Australia as the soloist with the Lions Choir. The culmination of the tour was a gala concert at the Sydney Opera House.
In addition to her singing career Ann is the Artistic Director of the North Wales International Music Festival and Musical Director of the Bro Glyndŵr Male Voice Choir since 1998.
From 2002 to 2009 Ann was also Musical Director of the Fron Male Voice Choir. During this time they were prize winners at Llangollen International Eisteddfod and at the Harmonie Festival in Germany.
In 2006 they secured a three album deal from Universal branded ‘Voices of the Valley’ and sold over 1 million copies. In 2009 they recorded a fourth CD ‘Voices of the Valley Memory Lane’. All four CDs were nominated for ‘Album of the Year’ at the Classical Brit awards. Ann is proud to have both conduct and sung two tracks on all these CDs.
Two UK tours followed this success and Ann sang as soloist and conducted the Fron at all the major concert halls in the country. They also performed this team combination at many of the major Festivals, in 2009, the Tower Festival in London with Lesley Garret, Grassington and Chichester Festival. In 2007 they performed at the Classical Brit Awards and have appeared on numerous television programmes over the last four years.
Gwerfyl, who lives in Bala, was Musical Director of the choir for three years from 1990, and maintains her association with the choir through her role as Assistant Musical Director, taking up the baton when Ann is unavailable. She is also the accompanist for the Llangwm Male Voice Choir.
Alice, who lives in Bryn Saith Marchog, near Corwen has been accompanist to the choir since 1992. She was taught the piano by the famous Corwen tutor, Mr Christmas Evans. She is the organist at Gwyddelwern Parish Church and is often called upon to play at other local churches and also as an accompanist for local solists.
Anne :- who lives in Bryneglwys, near Corwen has been accompanist to the choir since 2008. She is the organist at Carrog Parish Church. She was brough up in the Rhondda valley where she accompanied local male voice choirs before moving up north.
